In our time, the media has become a vital source from which individuals derive information and knowledge about the world around them. From early childhood, individuals are exposed to television and its images, which shape many of their attitudes, behaviors, and opinions. Television drama is also a significant source for conveying images, ideas, and meanings. Among these images is the portrayal of rural women in a way that can influence the audience's understanding of their social reality. In this book, we have attempted to identify the basic features and characteristics of rural women as depicted in Arab television series, and to determine whether the portrayal reflects their social reality and the impact of this on the audience's perception. Therefore, we analyzed the image of rural women in Arab television series, identifying the differences and similarities between the reality presented by television dramas and the actual lives of rural women, and assessing the extent to which exposure to dramas featuring rural women affects the audience's understanding of their social reality. The book also addresses the diverse roles of rural women within their communities, encompassing their economic, social, and political contributions, as well as various issues affecting them. These issues include education, employment, marriage, financial independence, gender inequality, health, and violence against women. The aim is to present a realistic portrayal of rural women's lives and emphasizes the need to support and empower them so they can participate in various development processes and contribute to the overall development of society. In this context, the book draws on the Rural Women Leaders and Agricultural Extension Project and identifies the specific requirements for rural women's development. Furthermore, the book examines the role of media in shaping our perceptions of the world and the future of media, which suggests an increasing reliance on various media outlets for image formation. It also addresses the often negative portrayal of women, which confines them to stereotypical and traditional roles that are resistant to change.
