This book is the first volume of the Hyperlink Learning Method reading series. What is the Hyperlink Learning Method? Starting from the point when humans began using tools 2.5 million years ago, the author outlines a main thread of three cognitive revolutions in human history. These three cognitive revolutions are instrumental rationality, cooperative rationality, and value rationality. The main thread of hyperlinked cognition begins in the Axial Age. Its specific content is: "e;the way of life, from inside out, cooperative rationality, and the unity of heaven and man,"e; which is deeply infused with Chinese philosophical ideas. If we say that four different kinds of wisdom emerged during the Axial Age, then the main thread of hyperlinked cognition represents the highest form of human wisdom. So, what is wisdom? The author believes that wisdom is not just feel-good advice, but rather problem-solving strategies under conditions of scarcity of resources and environment. This stands in stark contrast to knowledge, which is a problem-solving strategy under conditions of abundance of resources and environment. Knowledge can be learned and imitated. But what about wisdom? Therefore, the author raises the question of how to learn wisdom. Can wisdom be learned? How to learn it? The author proposes a learning method that is completely different from traditional lifelong learning methods: the Hyperlink Learning Method. Its core idea is to "e;understand good books from around the world through a single hyperlinked cognitive thread,"e; and those who read books using the Hyperlink Learning Method are hyperlinked learners. [1] So, how can one become a hyperlinked learner? The Hyperlink Learning Method is not a concept, nor a theory, nor even a method in the traditional sense. Instead, it involves reading a large number of classic authors to form a self-generated hyperlinked cognitive thread within the reader's mind. This cognitive thread enables one to understand all books related to the natural world, the cognitive world, and the world of knowledge, and to connect them together. Where does this cognitive thread come from and where does it lead? The author has designed this unique reading series in the world of reading, which consists of three parts.
