Case of the Stolen Familiar

Zara Whispers is the most cheerful pet sitter in town, which is good, because her clients include witches, fae, and a whole host of beings that require more than just a walk in the park. When Zara arrives for a routine sitting job, she finds her client—a powerful local witch—deep in a magically induced sleep. Worse, her ancient, spell-reciting familiar, a highly-valued parrot holding centuries of magical secrets, has been bird-napped. With only ten days until the witch's life is at risk, Zara has to crack a paranormal case the police wouldn't touch.Unfortunately, her gift for talking to the deceased is as unreliable as a cheap leash.Forced to rely on a nervous dog next door and the reluctant, sassy ghost of a deceased goldfish, Zara must combine her failing mediumship with sharp observation to uncover the suspect's tracks—a suspect who has already stolen a spell and used it to frame a rival sitter. With the help of an underestimated Fae ally, Zara must listen closely to the mind of a frightened pet and race against the clock to find the parrot before the toe of Book of Shadows falls into the wrong hands. The clues are all in the bark, the sass, and the soul. If Zara can just learn to listen.
