A Study of Metaphor and Metonymy

Cognitive linguistics regards metaphors and metonymy as conceptual systems on which people rely, and argues that metaphors and metonymy are pervasive in people's daily lives and are essential ways of thinking. The purpose of this book is to provide a more comprehensive discussion of the theory of metaphor and metonymy and its applicability from a cognitive linguistics perspective, and to make suggestions for related research. The book consists of eleven chapters.
