If you asked someone twenty years ago about Oslo, they'd probably tell you that it was the most provincial of the Scandinavian capitals - a quiet city without much of a food or cultural scene. That's changed. While the food scene has a ways to go to catch up to Copenhagen, Oslo's cultural scene has dramatically improved in the past twenty and even ten years. There are museums, the performing arts, sculpture parks, and more.
The city has built plenty of new neighborhoods with hip new restaurants, and old working class neighborhoods have become hotspots for independent boutiques and cafes. But it's still easy to get out of the city to find places to go walking in the wilderness.
This is my guide to how to best enjoy Oslo as a visitor, with recommendations for walks, hikes, museums, and so much more. It's based on the content on my blog, Solo Female Wanderer, and contains even more of my insider tips and tricks.
