Luminous Being

This book is about the evolution of consciousness, how it evolves, what higher levels of consciousness look like, and how we can facilitate the evolution of consciousness.

At higher levels of consciousness, we become aware of the constructed nature of our reality and how our beliefs and expectations can limit or expand our perspective. As we study the evolution of consciousness, we see that it takes on the qualities described by the mystics of all ages. The egocentric position is given up and we are more open to new ideas about reality.

Throughout the ages the mystical traditions of the world have said that we are sparks of infinite consciousness, capable of direct realizations of our true nature. The universe described by the mystics is strikingly similar to the universe described by quantum theory. Even though no one fully understands quantum theory, it is the most predictive and useful scientific theory formulated so far. The flow of the universe is an endless creation of complex, unique, and coherent patterns. Our bodies are like patterns in infinite dimensional space that are informed by the universal field and organize like the field does. Whether we choose to believe we are stardust from the Big Bang or a spark of infinite consciousness, we are part of a much larger reality that works like we do.

Research on the use of meditation and plant medicine finds that both increase interconnectivity among regions of the brain that normally don't communicate. Deeply rooted thinking, beliefs, and patterns of behavior can change and fade. We begin to dis-identify with content and identify with the clarity of open awareness.

Consciousness continues to evolve until all attachment to form is given up and we realize our true self, the Luminous Being.
